BIOMED Organic Medical Skincare | Review

Today’s post is all about these four products from BIOMED! They are a German company who make organic, medical skin care. They contacted me and kindly offered to send a few products for free, for me to review on my blog.

social-sharing-squareA little about BIOMED…

BIOMED aim to eliminate all dangerous and damaging ingredients in their products, resulting in a line of products which are 98.9% natural and organic.

This includes:

  • No parabens (preservatives that mimic estrogen and may be linked to breast cancer)
  • No Phenoxyethanol (linked to allergic reactions and may cause damage to infants’ nervous systems)
  • No Sodium Laureth Sulfate – SLS (may be linked to irritation, hormone imbalance, fertility issues, maybe even cancer)
  • No mineral oils (classed as carcinogens – so again linked to cancer)
  • 100% cruelty free (no animals were harmed in the making of these products!)

Not only do they strive to use almost all natural and organic ingredients, they are also committed to ensuring they do not compromise the quality or effectiveness of said active ingredients – not only do they want to create natural products, they must also be effective and do as they claim. Sounds good to me!

Pure Detox 24H Moisturiser

moisturiser

The Product

This moisturiser claims to lock in moisture for 24 hours, while protecting your skin from the stresses of everyday life – like free radicals and pollution, inescapable for me as I live in a city! It’s also 98.9% natural, which is reassuring.

My thoughts

I’ve really been enjoying using this product as a daily moisturiser. It’s not too thick or greasy, absorbs easily, and even without layering lots of products underneath, it does a good job at locking in moisture. It plays well as a base for makeup, and doesn’t get offended when I apply sunscreen on top. The scent is light but pleasant, and it doesn’t cause irritation anywhere on my sometimes sensitive skin. I’m very impressed – and have already used about 80% of the tub!

Forget Your Age Eye Mask

The Product

This eye cream claims to provide a collagen boosting effect without injections – lifting the contours of the eyes, filling in wrinkles, and plumping the skin.

My thoughts

A lot of eye creams irritate my sensitive eyes, but this is one of the rare ones that doesn’t. It does a good job at hydrating the skin around my eyes and does provide a mild, temporary plumping effect. At 24, I don’t really have any age-related wrinkles, so I personally can’t say this made a difference in that department. I do really enjoy using it though – I’d even go as far to put it as number 2 out of all the eye creams I’ve ever tried (beaten only by my holy grail Elderflower Eye Gel from The Body Shop, which is slightly more refreshing).

Ingrow Gone

The Product

This is a liquid product which claims to both prevent ingrown hairs and help to remove them. I love that it’s apparently safe to use in intimate areas, because those are usually the only places I get ingrown hairs…

My thoughts

I tried this on a couple of occasions when I got some ingrown hair patches on the backs of my calves. It had a very strong alcohol scent and was very watery. It applied easily and rubbed in – but it didn’t seem to make a difference, despite using it three days in a row. Maybe this is better at preventing ingrown hairs? I’ll let you in on a secret – I hate shaving, and don’t do it very often, so I haven’t tested this on freshly shaven skin. I feel the strong alcohol content would probably sting quite badly – but, it may also work very well.

Vein Vanish

The Product

This is a lotion that claims to both reduce the appearance of spider veins, and prevent new ones from forming.

My thoughts

I honestly don’t think I have any spider veins but I tried this on my hips and love handle areas where I have stretch marks (both white and red). It had a nice texture and I really liked the smell – it felt very luxurious as I massaged it into the skin, and didn’t leave a greasy residue. I’m not sure it made a difference to any imperfections (admittedly I didn’t use it regularly for 28 days), but as a lotion, it’s really nice.
